A Brief Introduction to Computed Tomography (CT) System

Computed Tomography (CT scan) System is a medical imaging method that uses computer-processed X-rays to produce tomographic images and generate a 3D image of various bodies, such as head, lungs and extremities. These cross-sectional images are used for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes in various medical disciplines.

Computed Tomography Systems produce a volume of data that can be manipulated in order to demonstrate various bodily structures based on their ability to block the X-ray beam. Modern scanners allow this volume of data to be reformatted in various planes or even as volumetric (3D) representations of structures. Thus, it requires a computer system that supports high computing graphics capability and computer processing ability. DFI’s HD330-H81, a microATX industrial motherboard in Intel® H81 product line, is powered by the 4th generation Intel® Core™ processor family. The integrated Intel® HD Graphics engine supports 20 Graphics Execution Units (EUs) and Intel® Clear Video Technology supports advanced imaging capabilities. This model provides 2 DDR3/DDR3L DIMM sockets supporting up to 16GB. In addition, with the desktop-based chipset, it offers flexible I/O providing enhanced computing and graphics performance for a wide range of medical designs.
