Taipei, Taiwan – DFI (TWSE: 2397), a global leading provider of embedded motherboards and industrial computers, today held its investor conference and reported improved operating performance for the first quarter of 2026 compared with the previous quarter. The improvement was mainly attributable to the reduced impact of subsidiary-related operational fluctuations, along with a higher contribution from high-value products, which supported a rebound in gross margin and profitability.
Looking ahead to the second quarter, DFI expects project opportunities in the medical and defense sectors across Europe and North America to continue supporting growth momentum, while further optimizing its product mix and profitability structure.
DFI stated that it continues to evolve from a traditional embedded hardware supplier into an AI Edge Infrastructure and Solution Enabler, with a focus on building AI edge infrastructure for real-world deployment. By leveraging industrial-grade systems, AI edge platforms and integration-ready application-focused platforms, DFI works with ecosystem partners to accelerate AI integration and scalable deployment across diverse application scenarios.
In high-reliability markets such as medical, defense, industrial automation and critical infrastructure, customers are placing greater emphasis on system stability, long lifecycle supply and trusted supply chain capabilities. This trend is expected to support DFI’s continued expansion in high-value application markets.
DFI reported consolidated revenue of NT$3.031 billion for the first quarter of 2026, with EPS of NT$0.76. Cumulative revenue for the first four months reached NT$4.266 billion, up 23.66% year over year. The company said first-quarter growth was mainly driven by industrial automation demand in the U.S., as well as deployments in defense, communications and rugged edge computing applications across Asia.
DFI noted that AI market demand is shifting from competition based solely on computing power toward real-world deployment capabilities, including system stability, thermal design, application-focused architecture, long lifecycle support and global supply availability.
DFI’s business strategy is centered on three core segments: Embedded Computing, Intelligent Automation and Cybersecurity, extending opportunities in edge computing and AI edge infrastructure. The Embedded Computing business will continue to strengthen its AI Edge Infrastructure and Rugged Edge Computing portfolio, focusing on high-reliability and long lifecycle application markets including industrial automation, medical, defense communications and transportation, while increasing the share of system-level products and application-focused platforms.
The Intelligent Automation business will continue to advance AI-driven automation and smart manufacturing initiatives, leveraging key module integration capabilities to expand opportunities in robotics and automation applications. The Cybersecurity business will continue to serve enterprise and critical infrastructure markets, while targeting opportunities in high-performance computing, cybersecurity appliances and AI infrastructure applications.
As AI applications move from proof of concept to real-world deployment, DFI said market demand is shifting beyond raw computing power toward system reliability, application-focused design, deployment efficiency, long lifecycle support and supply stability. Under the COMPUTEX 2026 theme “Extreme Reliability. Right-Sized Compute. Built for Deployment.”, DFI will work with ecosystem partners to advance edge AI deployment across mission-critical markets including industrial automation, medical, defense and public safety.
