AL05P – Pioneer PoE SBC for Edge Applications

DFI extends its own Pi-size industrial single-board computers, ALF51 and GHF51, to the first PoE (Power over Ethernet) compact single-board solution, AL05P, to challenge the deployment of existing computing devices inside and outside factories and buildings. AL05P replaces traditional DC power cable with PoE cable, filling in gaps of equipment setup in remote locations as well as effectively reducing cabling space and eliminating the cost of additional power supplies, greatly improving the ease and flexibility of device deployment without power limitations. Combined with +0.5KV isolation protection and -20~70°C wide temperature design, AL05P provides a more efficient and stable operating environment, enabling more diverse and innovative applications than the previous gen of Industrial Pi, ALF51.

Powered by Intel Atom® Processor E3900 Series

AL05P uses the Intel Atom® processor E3900 series as its computing force. With the high-performance, low-power (9W) processing capabilities, it further extends the real-time computing at the edge to real-time response to edge events, easily handling image recognition and data streaming analysis.

Fewer Cables for More Flexibilities

The industrial PoE Pi, AL05P, is currently one of the rarest 2.5-inch (100mm x 72mm) Pico-ITX embedded motherboards in the market that directly supports PoE. Whether empowering or supporting other control functions of edge devices, it is optimized for powering away from sockets or reducing cabling. Additionally, the small size and low power consumption gives AL05P an advantage in a narrow environment that lacks power distribution to boost the applications at the very edge.

Powering and Expansions – All In One Board

Compared with other development boards that require a double-layer design for an additional PoE expansion board, AL05P has PoE LAN, I/O, and expansion interfaces all configured on the single board directly. This also includes 1 ±15kv electrostatic-protected COM, 2 USB 3.1 Gen1, 2 USB 2.0, and Mini PCIe to make operation more seamless and stable and reduce maintenance costs.

4K HD for Added Values

AL05P has built-in HEVC hardware decoding and VP9 codec display enhancement engine that supports 4K high-resolution DP++ output (4096x2304@60Hz), and perfectly presents visual information of service applications, advertising, and multimedia. After further integration into Box PC or Panel PC, AL05P can bring value-added effects to applications such as access control, hotel management, video streaming server, meeting room signage, or environmental data collection via sensors in the factory.

Comprehensive Development Environment

Intel Atom® E3900 series adopted by AL05P is an x86 instruction set compatible processor. In addition to Linux, it also supports Windows operating systems, providing developers with a more flexible and friendly development environment to realize their design concepts, challenge the current device deployment, and break the limits of edge applications. At the same time, AL05P also supports a product life cycle up to 15 years, which greatly extends the life of the solution and reduces the cost of redevelopment in the short term.
