AI Edge Computing on Railway: RC300-CS With MXM & 5G

DFI’s RC300-CS is a fanless and AI-enabled in-railway computer. Powered by Intel® 9/8th Gen Core™ processors and integrated with NVIDIA MXM module, RC300-CS accelerates graphic processing for AI vision and machine learning. In addition, 5G capability brings real-time communication and response to the dynamics at the edge. RC300-CS achieves tremendous performance for advanced driver assistance, risk predictions, track and pantograph diagnostics, and onboard surveillance while also delivering passenger comfort and safety in today’s increasingly complex rolling stock operations.

Enhanced A.I. New Force by MXM

On the moving railway, AI vision and machine learning require abundant images and data for precise detection and analysis, making GPU even more essential for future railways. Providing processing capabilities of up to 150W, 3072 CUDA cores, and 64TFlops by MXM3.1 module, RC300-CS is powerful enough for workloads of autonomous driving. The compact and rugged size with better heat dissipation becomes a better choice for in-railway computers.

5G Era Equal Real-time Data Synchronization

To optimize the ecosystem of future railway needs the ability to transfer and analyze a large amount of data in real-time. Therefore, the 5G network, featuring multi-gigabit speeds and ultra-low latency, strengthens the synergy of devices and makes communications seamless and efficient to achieve immediate track hazard detection and rapid response in emergencies.

All-inclusive Function and Interface

RC300-CS not only supports four 15W M12 X-coded PoE, 2kV isolated DIO, and numerous ruggedized I/O interfaces, but also provides multiple M.2 & mini PCIe slots for LTE, 5G, WiFi, GNSS, CAN bus, or MVB functions. In addition, four external 2.5” SSD bring abundant data storage and disk arrays function. The comprehensive I/O meet varying system requirements in the train operation including wayside or onboard applications.

Outstanding Power Protection

In the railway system, electronic power may transit from different power sources and result in unstable voltage. When the system's power equipment is turned on/off, the converter could be damaged by the large voltage fluctuation. Therefore, RC300-CS supports power ignition function and operates stably in the wide continuous voltage range of 9-36V or 77-137.5V to prevent damages.

Perfect Balance Between High Performance and Heat Dissipation

Since rolling stock operation often faces a huge temperature difference and in-railway computers failure are generally quite costly, RC300-CS, with an excellent dissipation, can operate in a harsh environment of -25°C ~ 70°C even if deployed under the driver or passenger seat without active fans.

RC300-CS is certified by the E.U. railway standard, including electronic equipment EN50155, fire protection EN45545, and vibrations and shocks EN61373 to provide the most reliable, safe, and rugged embedded computer for the railway industry.
